Opal glass is obtained by adding fluoride in the glass composition. Fluoride is added in the form of calcium fluoride (CaF₂) because it is available easily.
Definition:- Glass is an amorphous or noncrystalline transparent or translucent supercooled solution of various slicate. Properties:- 1) Glass does not possess sharp boiling and melting point. 2) It is not a true solid,it is an amorphous solid. 3) Constituent particals are not arranged in a regular way. 4) It has short range order.( regular and predictable arrangement of the atoms over a short distance ) 5) It is isotropic(Have physical properties same in different directions) 6) Cooling curve or glass is continuos. Common formula of glass:- R₂O.MO.SiO₂ R is monovalent cation(Li, Na, K,...) M is divalent cation (Mg, Can, Zn, Pb ...)
